Mythological Jewelery

Aidoneus Jewels was founded in 1823, when Romanticism and works containing greek mythology were at its peak. Our founder Nikolas Stratallis was born 30 years prior and was born and raised on the greek island of Ithaca, where Homer drew inspiration for the Odyssey. From there he was heavily influenced by his nation's past, especially its stories and myths which became the groundwork for our company.

Aidoneus is one of the names for the greek god of the underworld, and ruler of the dead, Hades. Other than being king of the dead, he is also the god of the things presiding under the earth, including all gold, jewels and crystals. The ancient greeks believed that those were all his gifts, which he gave mortals of his own free will. This was a factor that greatly changed his image in the eyes of many, turning it into more of a mysterious benefactor to the mortal world than that of death itself.

Nikolas Stratallis chose this name for our company with the belief that as Hades was the benefactor of all humanity in the ancient days, he would be one for him as well.
